Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 for the Olympic competition. Bela Karalyi discovered Comaneci at the age of six. Later, she would be Romania's gymnastics coach. The first time she competed at the national junior championships of 1969, finishing 13th. She won the competition in 1970. The first time she competed in an international meet, which was an preolympics junior event for nations in the Communist bloc, she took home three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1975 she was awarded the All-around Junior Champion. In 1975, she took home 4 gold and 1 silver medal in her debut senior international contest. Lyudmila Torishcheva was a five-time European champion. She was the first woman ever to perform reverse double saltos while dismounting from an uneven parallel bar. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6 1942 on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol was a professional in the world of entertainment when she was a teenager. Her first job was as a figure skater performing with her sister Nina Wayne as part of the shows that traveled around named Ice Capades. They featured staged ice skating shows.
